The torsion spring garage door opens and closes easily. There are two torsion springs each side of the door. They are located on the inside top of the door. If you do not open or close properly, then check the tension in the springs to see if they need to be adjusted. You may need someone to help you adjust torsion springs because it is a potentially dangerous task.
Search a reddish cone torsion spring. The cone is on the left side of the spring away from the center of the garage door. This cone has notches which are used to adjust the tension of torsion spring garage door.

Get another metal bar of the same size. Once the bolts are loosened, the second metal bar placed in the opposite notch and turn the cone both bars to the right or left depending on whether you’re adjusting or loosening the tension. If the torsion spring garage door opens and closes easily, then you need to adjust. Tour the bars to the right. To loosen the tension turns it to the left. Tighten the screws. Remove bar and keep the other in place until the screws are tight.
